The 4A Advantage

When I speak to a client about putting out a fire in their life, I don't just come in with all the answers. In order for us to understand their problem, we must be able to look at it from all sides. That's why we start with my 4A Performance System.

Awareness — we need to be very clear on what is happening in the client's life that has created this distress. It's also important to separate items that need attention from anxiety about what might happen in the future.

Analysis — once we have a level of awareness about the fire that needs to be put out, we need to explore the client's perception, philosophy, and past so that we understand the decision-making process that led to the current circumstances. An essential component of the analysis is to examine the options available to us, and also rule out possible solutions that the client has already tried. With the client's permission, this is where I may make a suggestion that might fit with what they are trying to accomplish.

Action Plan — once we have a clear picture of the problem, we must commit to our single next move. This is often where clients get stuck. They either get overwhelmed with the options, or they want to try too many of them, and then nothing happens. Take one bite of the elephant at a time, as they say!

Achievement — we may take a moment to celebrate the results of the fire going out, but then we want to be able to transition to the next problem-solving opportunity with efficiency.

This isn't theory. It's structured transformation I use with clients navigating everything from difficult conversations to failures and setbacks. Although we initially use this process during our time together in coaching sessions, the client is welcome and encouraged to take the four-step process with them and apply it after the coaching engagement inevitably terminates. It's a way in which I add a tool to your toolbox to solve problems and put out fires in your personal and professional life.

If you're facing a fire in your life right now, don't feel like you have to put it out yourself. There is an abundance of resources and people who can help you make sound decisions and create the results you're looking for.

Please feel free to book your free 30-minute session with me if there's anything you'd like to discuss.
