High Stakes Leadership

Critical decisions require self-awareness, emotional intelligence and clarity. Poor decisions can lead to failure, loss of income and liability.

I have helped hundreds of leaders achieve greater success and fulfillment by learn from their mistakes and being mindful of their thoughts when making difficult decisions. I will help you understand your tendencies and how to develop a healthy approach that will serve you well during those critical moments.

Here’s what it looks like:

Finding the Root Cause – I will help you understand the source of the thoughts, perceptions and behaviors that are creating your current results.

Customize the Plan – You will feel empowered to design a future that is in alignment with the results that you seek. We will identify your priorities and develop a plan for a happier, fulfilling, and more balanced life.

Keep You Engaged – My direct, non-judgmental approach creates a safe space for clients to learn and grow from life’s challenges while feeling heard and understood.

Mental Resilience

As a first responder, adversity and setbacks became a learning opportunity that helped me sharpen my skills for the next emergency. I help leaders develop that same resilience so that they view difficult moments as a way to practice a new approach.

As a fire captain and paramedic, I trained on decision making in advance of critical life or death decisions in emergency situations. In those moments you have to be prepared or things can get chaotic. I’ve helped hundreds of executives become more effective at making decisions and having a command presence in meetings and conversations. We will explore the context of some of the interactions you have experienced so that you are clear on why they land with you in a way that creates distress. I want you to embrace future interactions from a experiential point of view so that you are able to practice new skills and understand other people's perspective better. In subsequent sessions, I want you to report back with what you learned and how some of those interactions transpired.

Resilience coaching is designed to develop a plan for making critical decisions and creating mental and emotional agility. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Improved self-confidence.

  • Understanding the root cause of people pleasing and how it impacts your decisions.

  • Reframing challenging experiences so that you are equipped for the next situation.

  • Recognizing how your decisions affect your outcomes.

  • Applying mindfulness and clarity to your decisions.

  • Training your mind to prepare for intense situations that require focus and clarity.

  • Changing your internal narrative so that are clear, calm and confident.

First Responder Mindset

I don’t coach based on leadership theory. I coach the mindset required when leadership actually matters.

When I arrived at an emergency scene as a firefighter, I had to rely on my level of knowledge, training and experience to help me during the most stressful moments. I often had to make decisions without the time to seek more information. I communicated calmly, clearly and confidently when seconds mattered, and worked in teams where trust and accountability were non-negotiable. I have that same first responder mindset when it comes to leadership coaching. I train leaders to stay calm under pressure, communicate with clarity, and build resilient teams that perform when it matters most.

Here are the ways that we work together on a first responder mindset:

  • I will help you make effective decisions when the pressure is on and you need clarity.

  • You will learn to stay composed as you lead your team through stressful and chaotic situations.

  • Firefighters are trained to read their environments quickly: people, risk, and changing conditions. I will help you develop that same situational awareness inside your team and organization.

  • At the scene of an emergency incident, communication must be clear, concise, and actionable. I coach leaders to communicate with that same clarity so teams move faster and with greater alignment.

  • I help leaders build cultures where pride and ownership are emphasized and recognized.

  • I will help you learn the basics of emotional intelligence.

  • When you are attacking a fire in a burning building, trust and accountability between team members is what keeps people safe. I help leadership teams build that same level of trust so collaboration actually works..

  • Changing old work habits for new habits that can become rituals that will create platforms for desired results.

By coaching you through a first responder mindset, I help you learn to triage the information in front of you and base your decisions on alignment with your priorities rather than misaligned tactics.
